Fried Our Chi Iron !!! Jul 05, 2010 This converter did not work. We used it in the UK with my daughter's expensive Chi hair straightener. There was instantly a buzzing noise and the ceramic plates started to melt giving off a burning plastic smell. The iron was ruined! If you value your appliance, take my advice and leave it at home rather than risking it with this horrible product.

Not for Ipod, Battery Packs, Phones Etc May 14, 2010 When you read the description about the product on the web it does not say that the product is only good for small appliances and not for the Ipod, phones, Battery packs etc. Be sure you only need this for your hair dryer and not computer, Ipod etc. It specifically says on the packaging, not on the internet, that you cannot use it for those items. I notice in the reviews that some people used it anyways. Up to you. I do not have time now as I leave in a few days to get the correct product online. Frustrating.

great for backpacking Oct 11, 2009 this was such a great buy. i was alittle skepical buying any converter after reading the reviews, but this one was the best choice. i backpacked through the uk, france, germany, and holand. every place that i traveled to, i used this converter. had no issues, problems, or burnouts. i mainly used just the adaptors for my camera and computer which were 240 voltage or 240v. you can read this on anything with a plug to determine if you will need the converter. if it is less than 240v then you will need one. for example, the air dryer was a different voltage, without this converter it would have broken. also, just dont leave anything plugged into the converter for a long time. that is how you avoid anything breaking/ burning out. hope this helps :D

Does what it says, reasonable price Sep 20, 2009 This product does what it says, and its useful for dual-voltage appliances and 110V electric (*not* electronic) devices that are less than 1600W.
A lot of the negative reviews are from people trying to use the converter incorrectly. The product insert clearly states that it should not be used with dual voltage devices or with devices with electronic features (such as curling irons with auto shut-off, etc.) Perhaps it's an easy mistake to plug in the wrong sort of device, but when you're dealing with something as potentially harmful as electricity, you really should be reading labels!
If you do have a non-dual voltage electric device that needs to plug into 220V power, you need a transformer, which is much heavier and much more expensive. I found this page [...] to be helpful in explaining the differences between a converter and a transformer. I've never needed to buy a transformer, so I don't have one to recommend.
everything you need Sep 12, 2009 This converter kit has all of the adaptors I need in one compact case. I used it in Australia last month and it was hassle free. It plugged into the outlet securely and then stayed there as long as I needed it to. I would recommend this adaptor.
